“Agar Bagan” was burned by miscreants

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Two agar gardens were burned down in Chakoria, Cox’s Bazar. On Sunday (February 26) night, a fire broke out in two agar gardens in the Kakara area of the Fansiakhali range of the Forest Department. Earlier, there were two other fires in the garden on the nights of January 22 and February 25.

It is known that a fire suddenly broke out in the agar garden under the social forestry program of Kakara Bon Bit around 9 p.m. on Sunday and quickly spread around. Numerous trees of various species, including agar, were burned in the fire. The fire was brought under control by the efforts of locals around 11 p.m. It is not known who started the fire. In addition to the fire, miscreants cut down 46 trees.

Kakara-biting officer Mosharraf Hossain said that a team from the forest department visited the spot after receiving the information. Several trees in the valuable agar garden were burned.

Divisional Forest Officer Anwar Hossain Sarkar said, “I have received reports of fire in Agar Garden.” Instructions have been given to investigate whether it was an accident or planned. Appropriate legal action will be taken in this regard.
