Sukant Bikash Dhar, Satkania: Two youths, including a college student, were injured when a drug-addicted youth slashed them with a razor blade after stopping them from consuming drugs at a playground in Satkania. Last night (Sunday), this incident occurred in Ward No. 8 Hindu Para area of Kaliaish Union of Upazila.The injured are Sujan Majumder (20), son of Kajal Majumder, and Rimon Majumder (19), son of Jhuntu Majumder, both from the same area. The injured were treated at the Dohazari Health Complex. Rimon graduated from high school this year, and they are cousins.The accused, Khokon Jaldas, is the son of Banmali Jaldas of the same area.
Sujan Majumdar, who was injured in the attack, said that on the day of the incident, the boys of the area were playing cricket together on the billboard next to the Hari temple. Khokon was sitting next to Bill and was consuming ganja. If he is forbidden, he is pushed out of the field without listening. Later, at around 10:15 p.m., on the way home from the Maulvi’s shop with my cousin, Khokan stopped us, hit us with a razor blade, and ran away. Later on, the locals heard our screams and came forward, rescued us, and took us to Dohazari Hospital for treatment. Sujan also said that under the leadership of UP members in the area, we have taken initiatives to stop drugs. He did not listen to Khokon’s ban, but continued to threaten to watch the protestors.
Accused Khokon Jaldas is absconding from the area, and the mobile phone used by him is not available for comment.
In this regard, his elder sister, Sethu Jaldas, said, “My brother and some of his friends were playing six on the mobile phone on the bill next to the Hari temple.” At that time, they came drunk and beat my brother and snatched the mobile phone. Later, he (the brother) struck himself with a razor to save himself. The injury isn’t really big; it’s just that they want to make it big.
Adhir Das, a local UP member of Ward No. 8, said that the assailant, Khokon, was involved in the sale and consumption of drugs in addition to the salon shop. His father also sells marijuana.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Satkania police station, Mohammad Yachin Arafat, confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Sujan Majumdar, the injured youth, filed a case yesterday (Monday) at the police station, accusing three people as the plaintiff. I hope the accused will be arrested soon.
