Dhaka Bureau: Three people have been arrested with 13 thousand pieces of yaba in the capital. The matter was confirmed by the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station, Mohammad Mohsin.
They were arrested from a flat in Sheorapara Ali Bhavan of Mirpur Model Police Station on Saturday, February 18, at 11:30 a.m. The arrested accused are Mahmudul Hasan (41), Md. Sohag Mia (37), and Meem Akhtar (22). Mahmudul and Meem Akhtar, husband and wife, are among those detained.Besides, Sohag is Mahmudul’s nephew.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station, Mohammad Mohsin, said that they were arrested from Ali Bhawan in Sheorapara on the basis of secret information today at around 11:30 a.m. Following the search, a total of 13 thousand Yaba were seized, including 12 thousand pieces kept in the cupboard, 600 pieces from Sohag, and 400 pieces from Meem.The estimated value of the seized yaba is Tk 39 lakh.
He also said that the arrested Mahmudul is a listed drug dealer. He mainly deals in yaba. He brought Yaba from Teknaf and supplied it to neighboring districts, including Dhaka. and his wife Meem and nephew Sohag assisted him in this work. The wife manages Yaba. And the nephew, Sohag, delivered it to various places under the guise of driving for Uber. There are four cases filed against Mahmudul in various police stations. He also said that another case will be filed against them in the Yaba rescue incident.
