Dhaka Bureau: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the order of the High Court to allot a stall to Adarsh Prakashani at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. As a result, the publication is not getting a stall at the book fair. On Wednesday (February 15), the three-judge Appellate Division led by the Chief Justice disposed of the appeal filed by Bangla Academy seeking stay of the High Court’s order.
As a result of today’s order, Mintu Kumar Mandal, a lawyer for the Bangla Academy, said that Adarsh Publications is not getting a stall at the book fair. Barrister Anik R. Haque appeared for Adarsh Publications in court. On behalf of the Bangla Academy, Attorney General AMin Uddin testified.
On February 8, the High Court ordered Adarsh Prakashani to allocate a stall at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the condition that the three books objected to by the Bangla Academy should not be kept in the stall. The three books objected to by the Bangla Academy are Faham Abdus Salam’s “In Search of Mediocrity,” “Development Illusions” by author Zia Hasan, and “Unthinkable Words of Irresistible Development” by author Faiz Ahmad Tayyub.
