Own Correspondent: 40 shops were burned down in Pahartali raw market in Chittagong city. The fire happened around 12:30 on Saturday night.
Five vehicles of the Agrabad and Bandar Fire Services went there and started extinguishing the fire after receiving information about the fire. Abdul Hamid Mia, Deputy Assistant Director of Agrabad Fire Service, said that they were able to put out the fire around 2:00 a.m. after trying for about two and a half hours.
He said that about 40 shops, including rice, grocery, and vegetable shops, were burned in the three sheds of the raw market.
This official of the fire service also said that we could not know the real cause of the fire. However, locals told us that the fire was started by the masala powder shop. However, there were no casualties.
