Dhaka Bureau: Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasusan Ismail is coming to Dhaka today, Saturday, January 4rday, January 4. The government of Anwar Ibrahim, who took over as prime minister last November, has also involved the country’s interior ministry in recruiting foreign workers.
Saifuddin Nasusan Ismail will hold a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterparts, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Expatriate Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed, during his two-day visit to Bangladesh in the afternoon. He will return to his country on Sunday.
The senior secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare confirmed the matter. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin said that how to send more and more workers from Bangladesh quickly will also be discussed.
Earlier, Malaysia stopped the recruitment of workers from Bangladesh in 2018 due to irregularities. After signing the memorandum of understanding in 2021, it has been hiring again since last August. Despite the fact that demand letters for 3.5 lakh workers have arrived, approximately 60,000 Bangladeshis have been able to enter the country in the last six months.
