Crime Desk: Polling is going on in local government level elections in hundreds of upazilas, municipalities and union councils across the country. Voting will start from 8 am on Wednesday (November 2) and will continue till 4 pm. In order to ensure peaceful polling, all types of traffic in the polling areas were banned from midnight.
Besides, motorcycle movement will be stopped till 12 midnight on November 3.
Areas in which election:
General elections are being held in four municipalities on Wednesday. They are Fatikchari of Chittagong, Hazrabari of Jamalpur, Parvatipur of Dinajpur and Vishwanath Municipality of Sylhet. Voting for general elections is going on in three upazilas today. They are – Karnaphuli of Chittagong, Jagannathpur of Sunamganj and Osmaninagar of Sylhet. Apart from this, by-elections are being held in Netrokona Sadar Upazila, Roumari and Chilmari of Kurigram and Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia for the post of chairman.
Also, general elections to 19 Union Parishads (UP) are being held. They are Baratara and Tulsi Ganga of Kshetlal Upazila of Joypurhat, Ziarthi and Kanchanpur of Kushtia Sadar, Chithlia and Dhubail of Mirpur, Adra and Phulkocha of Melandhar of Jamalpur, Raipara of Dohar Upazila of Dhaka.
Mahmudpur and Sutarpara, Perli and Panchgram of Kalia upazila of Narail, West Jaflong, Goainghat, East Jaflong and Madhya Jaflong of Goainghat upazila of Sylhet, Khadera of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria and Durlabpur of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
On the other hand, Barabari of Lalmonirhat Sadar, Ashekpur of Shajahanpur of Bogura, Arabpur of Jessore Sadar, Rakhalgachi of Bagerhat Sadar, Udaipur of Mollarhat, Barakpur of Dighlia Upazila of Khulna, Amragachia of Mirzaganj of Patuakhali, Nakda Shimla of Gopalpur of Tangail, Naikpur of Madin of Netrokona, Sutalchi of Mohail Hossain of Harirampur of Manikganj, Sutalchi of Mohila Gandhi of Manikganj, Kumilla upazila. Bye-elections are also being held for the post of UP Chairman.
On the same day, a total of 60 candidates of 52 upazilas of 52 upazilas of 36 districts are holding the by-election polling.
