Sylhet Bureau: Flight operations are suspended after a wheel burst while taking off from the runway at MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
Sylhet Osmani International Airport director Hafiz Ahmad confirmed this. He said that due to the rupture of the wheel, the take-off and landing of the aircraft through the runway was disrupted. Attempts are being made to replace the burst wheel and restore the runway to normal. It is expected that the flight will change its wheels around 3:30 pm and leave for Dhaka with passengers.
The airport authorities said that no passengers were injured in the incident. The incident took place on Bangladesh Biman flight 602 from Sylhet to Dhaka around 1:15 on Friday (February 3). There were 148 passengers on that flight.
According to airport sources, the flight from Manchester, England in the morning could not return due to the closure of the runway. The flight of Bangladesh Biman is supposed to return if it is removed from the runway. The work of changing the wheel is being carried out by disembarking the passengers.
