Chakaria’s representative: Four members of a Rohingya family received birth certificates with the help of public representatives. Local public representatives helped four members of that family get birth certificates in exchange for a large sum of money. They are conducting various activities to be included in the voter list. At present, the Rohingya family is living in the Betuarkul area of Ward No. 7 of the BMchar Union of Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

According to the investigation, the Rohingyas spread to different areas by managing the law enforcement forces and security personnel in different upazilas of Cox’s Bazar. Later, they collected birth certificates from various municipalities and union councils in exchange for a huge amount of money. They are being assisted in this work by public representatives, the UP secretary, and certain brokers. This is how Rohingyas are getting birth certificates. After getting their birth certificates, they are desperate to get ID cards, voter registration lists, and passports.

It is known that a Rohingya family from Myanmar has been living in the Betuarkul area of Ward 7 of the BMchar Union of Chakaria Upazila for a long time. Father Noor Ahmad and mother Chura Khatun both passed away a long time ago.Another member of the family is abroad, but four other members of Noor Ahmad live in the Betuarkul area. They are Mizanur Rahman (30), Halima Sadia (23), Anwara Sadia (20), and Shamsudduha (15). They also grasped the opportunity and continued to try to be included on the voter list.

Local representatives have created opportunities for Rohingyas to get birth certificates. Locals said that Mizan Uddin, a former member of Ward No. 7 of the BMchar Union, helped the Rohingyas get birth certificates.

Local people said that they gave their birth certificates in exchange for a large amount. A specific form has to be filled out to get the birth certificate. It is sent to the council on the recommendation of local UP members. Following the signatures of the UP chairman and secretary, a birth certificate is issued.Former UP member of that ward, Mizan Uddin, helped to get the birth certificate.

Jamal Uddin Manu, the current member of the 7th Ward of BMchar Union, said that the former member of his ward, Mizan Uddin, gave birth certificates to many Rohingyas in exchange for money. He assisted two daughters and two sons of Rohingya Nur Ahmad in obtaining birth certificates.

In this regard, BMchar Union Parishad Secretary Erfanul Haque said, “I do not know whether the members of the family who received the birth certificate are Rohingya.” But send the documents to the council. He said that it would be checked and selected.
