Khulna Correspondent: Law and order forces said that 15 gold bars have been recovered in Khulna. Meanwhile, two youths were arrested. On Saturday (January 28), the police arrested them while searching the passenger bus at zero point on Khulna and Satkhira roads.
The weight of the recovered gold is two and a quarter kg.
The arrested persons are Abul Hossain (35) of Comilla district and Emon (32) of Chittagong city. Currently, they both live in Dhaka.
Saltachara Police Station OC Enamul Haque said that the two passengers were suspected to have been spotted during the search of the Tungipara Express from Dhaka at the zero-point check post on the Khulna and Satkhira roads. They are searched if they behave inappropriately when they are interrogated. Later, 15 gold bars wrapped in polythene inside their shoes were recovered.
The OC stated that they were transporting these gold bars to the Satkhira border in order to smuggle them into India. They also told the police that they have been smuggling gold to India from this country for a long time.
