Sitakunda Correspondent: The police recovered the hanging body of a young man from the teak tree of Chittagong’s Sitakunda cemetery. The body was recovered from the Hammadia Jame Masjid graveyard in Chhota Kumira area of Sitakunda on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Thursday morning. Later, the body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Locals said that early in the morning, the worshipers of Kumira Hammadia Jame Masjid in the upazila, after performing Fajr prayers, saw the dead body of a young man hanging from a tree in the cemetery and informed the police. After receiving the news, the SI of the police station said. Farooq went to the spot and recovered the body.
He said, the dead body of the youth was found hanging from a tree in the cemetery. His name has not been identified. After preparing the report, the body has been sent to Chamek Hospital for post-mortem.
Local Kumira Union Chairman Morshed Hossain Chowdhury said that no one in this area can recognize him. He may not be a local resident.
However, local devotees said that they saw the young man working at the GPH factory in Kumirastha. Devotees believe that after killing the young man outside, the body was brought in the dark of night and hung from a teak tree in the graveyard.
Inspector (Investigation) of Sitakundu Model Police Station Abu Saeed said that fingerprints of the recovered bodies have been taken. Besides, the CID team is also working for identification.
He also said that there is no sign of injury on the body of the dead body. It will be known whether it was murder or suicide after receiving the post-mortem report.
