Magura Correspondent: Kadirpara Union Jubo League President Sohel Rana’s wife has been arrested in Magura. A team of Magura detective police arrested them from Ramnagar in Sripur upazila of the district on Monday evening.
According to the police, a team of intelligence police raided the rented house of Jubo League leader Sohail Rana in Ramnagar village in the evening based on tip-off. At that time, Sohail and his wife Riya Sultana were arrested along with Yabas kept in multiple packets.
Sikander Ali, officer-in-charge of Magura detective police, said that the husband and wife had been dealing in drugs for a long time. The raid was launched after receiving information that a large quantity of yaba was kept in the house for sale. At that time, they were arrested along with 50 pieces of Yaba.
A DB official confirmed that a case has been registered against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
Magura District Jubo League Joint Convenor Ali Ahmed Ahad confirmed the political identity of Sohel Rana arrested by the police and said that if there is any connection with drugs, organizational action will be taken against him for violating party discipline.
