Anwara representative: Three shops were burnt in a terrible fire in Chaktai city. The victims said that there was a loss of 1 crore 60 lakh rupees. The fire incident took place in front of Agrani Bank on New Chaktai Old Road at 6:30 am on Friday. The police of Baklia police station visited the spot.
It is known that a fire broke out in the new shop on Friday morning. M/s BR Rice Agency, M/s Elias & Brothers were gutted in the fire. A partial fire broke out at M/s Rajlakshi store. As the intensity of the fire was high, it was not possible to take out the goods of the shop.
On receiving information, a team of Chaktai Fire Service rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire. A team of Baklia police station also reached there. Even though the fire was brought under control by the fire service, the goods of the shop were burnt. Eyewitnesses said that only the new employee was saved because of the fire service. If the fire service team did not reach the spot on time, the fire would not have been brought under control.
The fire is said to have started from an electrical short-circuit. Mohammad Yachin said that the goods of M/s BR Rice Agency worth Tk 75 lakh, M/s Elias & Brothers Tk 80 lakh and M/s Raj Lakshmi Store Tk 5 lakh have been damaged in the fire.
