Sirajganj Correspondent: Rajshahi-bound Padma Ekpress train hit a passenger bus at Mulibari railway crossing of Sirajganj Sadar Upazila. A bus supervisor named Babul (40) lost his life. At least 20 passengers of the bus were injured in the incident. The injured were rescued and admitted to various nearby hospitals including Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
The incident took place at the railway crossing of the Sirajganj-Kada regional highway in Syedabad Union of Sadar Upazila on Thursday (29 December). At that time the railway crossing gate was open.
The deceased Babul was a resident of Nekmatpur village of Ranishankail police station in Thakurgaon district. Among the injured are Rajekul Islam, Majedul Islam, Shubo Sheikh, Dulali Begum, Romana Khatun of Kalmegh village of Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district. The rest are yet to be identified

Roshan Yazdani, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Setu West Police Station, said that the Munshiganj-bound passenger bus from Thakurgaon was crossing the Koddar Mor railway crossing through the city. At that time Padma Express train coming to Rajshahi hit the back of the bus. In this incident, 1 person was killed and 20 people were injured.
He also said that after receiving information, fire service members and policemen went to the spot and rescued the injured and admitted them to 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnecha Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj. The engine of the Padma Express train broke down in this accident. As a result, the Dhaka-Uttaran rail link is closed for 1 hour. Later Padma Express left for Rajshahi by bringing alternative engine from Jamoil station.
