Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: 8 people who were abducted from Jahaspura Hills of Teknaf Baharchhara in Cox’s Bazar returned home injured after 3 days. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station confirmed their return home on Thursday (December 22) morning. Abdul Halim. They returned home at 2 am on Wednesday (December 21). Earlier last Sunday (December 18) afternoon, they were abducted from there when they went to hunt fish in Jahaspura mountain canal of Baharchhara Union.
They are – Mohammad Ullah, son of Rashid Ahmad of Baharchhara Union, Mustafa Kamal, son of Syed Amir, his brother Karim Ullah, son of Mumtaz Mia. Riduan, Salim Ullah, son of Rustam Ali, Nurul Haque, son of Quader Hussain, Nurul Abshar, son of Rashid Ahmad and Nur Mohammad, son of Nurul Haque. For 3 days, more than 400 people, including the administration and local people, went to rescue the abductees in the mountainous area.
Mohammad Habib, a member of the abducted family, said that the abductors physically tortured the 8 abducted persons in various ways for the ransom money. They have torture wounds on different parts of their bodies. However, the kidnappers released them. Thanks be to God Almighty that they have returned home. I am grateful to the administration and those who supported our family during the rescue operation.
OC Abdul Halim said that the police operation was going on in various inaccessible places in the hills and forests to rescue the abductees. I got the news that the abductees returned home on Wednesday night. May they be healthy. Then I can get details from them including the reason for the abduction.
