Rajshahi Correspondent: Allegations of death threats have been made by sending shrouds to 9 teachers and staff of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).
On Wednesday (December 21st), such a letter was sent to the teachers by post. Then, on behalf of those teachers, the Registrar of RUET Salim Hossain filed a complaint at Motihar police station in the city.
The 9 teachers-officials who got the shroud cloth by post are – Ruet teachers association president Dr. Farooq Hossain, vice president. Jaglul Shahadat, General Secretary of Ruet Teachers’ Association. Rabiul Awal, Assistant Director. Mamunur Rashid, Ruet Registrar Dr. Md. Salim Hossain, Comptroller Nazimuddin Ahmed, Assistant Engineer Harun Or Rashid and Section Officer Raisul Islam Reza.
Meanwhile, the complaint made by Registrar Salim Hossain mentioned, University Professor Dr. Md. Farooq Hossain, Director (Research and Extension) Professor Dr. Md. Rabiul Awal, Director (Student Welfare), Professor Dr. Md. Jaglul Sadat, Director (Planning and Development), Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sekh, recently former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Salim Hossain, Registrar (Acting), Md. Mamunur Rashid, Deputy Director (Student Welfare), Nazimuddin Ahmed, Comptroller, Engineer Md. Haroon Or Rashid, engineer. A letter was received through the post office in the name of several teachers and officials including Raisul Islam with the name ‘Sachetan Nagrik Samaj’. When the letter is opened, two pieces of white shroud are found inside the letter.
Confirming the written complaint filed at the police station, RUET’s Registrar Salim Hossain also said that the teachers think that there may be a link with the unpleasant and unwanted incident that happened with the inspection committee on December 6 for the purpose of implementing the National Purification Strategy. They have asked for a proper investigation into the incident of such threats.
Motihar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman said that the Ruet administration has applied for a general diary (GD) in the police station in this regard. We are investigating.
