A volunteer league leader named Mohiuddin (35) is seriously injured and undergoing treatment at Chamek Hospital. Last Monday (December 19) at around 11:15 p.m., the incident took place near Guinya’s father’s house on the east side of Ward No. 5 Hangar Mukh Bazar of Nalua Union of Upazila. Mohiuddin suffered severe head injuries in the attack. Arms and legs are said to be broken by being beaten with rods and hockey sticks. Mohiuddin Nalua is the president of Union Volunteer League and the son of deceased Amjad Hossain of Ward No. 5 Malir’s home area. In this incident, police arrested two people named Morshed and Riaz.
In this regard, Mohiuddin Mutho, who was seriously injured, told this reporter on the phone that a group of 9/10 including members Morshed, Jamshed, Fahim, Zobair, Tiger Farooq, Shaheed and Sujan, on their way home at night after playing badminton from Jame Masjid area in Sanchi, neighboring my house, attacked me. I want to stop and take me to the garden. Some of them were wearing masks. Then Jamshed and Morshed pushed the long gun in my chest and said why I filed the case. When someone next to them first hit me on the head with an iron rod, I blocked it with my hand. When he hit me on the head with an iron rod the second time, I fell on the ground. There they also beat me severely with iron rods and hockey sticks and broke my arms and legs. Local people came forward at my shout. Then they (terrorists) threatened to burn down their houses if anyone witnessed the incident and left the scene in Bir Darp. The locals and my relatives rescued me from the spot and first took me to a private hospital in Keranihat. Seeing my condition was bad, the doctors sent me to Chamek Hospital.
Mohiuddin also said that when I and Morshed contested for the post of member in the last UP election, I lost the vote. During the election, they spent Tk 6 lakh, this money should be returned to Morshed. When I disagreed, the people of Morshed had threatened me many times before, including killing me. A few days ago, the main financial provider of this incident and Morshed’s uncle Mintu, a Saudi expatriate, also called and threatened to pay money. Several attacks were also carried out on me. At least 15 rounds were fired at the house led by Mintu the day after the election. Then three brothers including me were attacked and injured. On the night of August 13, an attempt was made to kill me at home. 3 cases have been filed in the police station in these incidents. In these cases, Mintu Army cadre Tiger Farooq was released on bail recently. Others are still absconding.
Satkania Police Station OC Tarek Md. Abdul Hannan admitted the truth of the incident and said that a case was registered in the police station today (Tuesday) afternoon. Two people named Morshed and Riaz have been arrested. Efforts are still on to arrest others.
