The fourth dose of corona vaccination program has started in the country

Dhaka Bureau: The fourth dose of vaccine to prevent the spread of coronavirus has started in the country. On Tuesday (December 20) around 9 o’clock in the morning, this program started simultaneously across the country. Kurmitola General Hospital was officially inaugurated by the Additional Director General of the Department of Health. Ahmedul Kabir.

Ahmedul Kabir said that the antibody of the corona vaccine does not last long. That is why the government has taken the initiative to give the fourth dose of corona vaccination. About 4 crore people across the country are yet to receive the fourth dose. But for now this vaccination will be given in 5 categories.

Meanwhile, Director and Line Director of the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) of the Department of Health Dr. Md. In a circular signed by Shamsul Haque, several instructions have been given to the vaccination centers.

The instructions are:
1. Pfizer vaccine will be given as fourth dose.
2. A fourth dose may be administered to individuals four months have passed since receiving the third dose.
A. People 60 years and older should be vaccinated.
b. People aged 18 years and older with chronic diseases will receive the vaccine.
c. Populations with low immunity will be vaccinated.
d. Pregnant women and lactating mothers will be vaccinated.

e. Front line fighters (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Officers; Authorized Private and Private Health and Family Planning Officers; All directly involved Government, Private and Autonomous Officers; Heroic Freedom Fighters and Warriors; Front Line Law and Order Forces; Military: Civilian Aviation; Offices essential to the running of the state; Front-line media workers; Elected public representatives: Front-line officers-employees of city corporations and municipalities; Religious representatives of all religions: Persons engaged in cremation; Front-line government officials of emergency power, water, gas, sewerage and fire services- employees; government officials-employees of railway stations, airports, land ports; government officials-employees involved in emergency public services in districts and upazilas; bank officials-employees, national team players and students in medical education).

3. 4th booths running at all permanent Covid-19 Vaccination Centers (Government Specialized Hospitals, Government Medical College Hospitals, 500/250/100 Bed Hospitals, Zila Sadar Hospitals, Upazila Health Complex etc.) located at City Corporation/District/Upazila/Municipality level across the country. Dose vaccination should be given.

4. For the purpose of the campaign, arrangements should be made to make and display banners under their own management as per the attached format at a visible place outside the fourth dose dispensing booths.

In this regard, the additional director general of the Department of Health, Dr. Ahmadur Kabir said that seven centers in the capital have been designated under the direction of the Health Minister for the fourth dose of vaccination. Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Mugda General Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Hospital, government employees, Kurmitalo General Hospital and Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital will be vaccinated.
