Dhaka Bureau: Border Guard Bangladesh Day-2022 is being celebrated today. On this occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the BGB Day Parade at Bir-Uttam Anwar Hossain Parade Ground of Pilkhana Headquarters at 10 am as Chief Guest and take salute and inspect the parade. On the occasion of BGB Day, 60 officers and employees of various levels including BGB Director General Major General Sakil Ahmed are receiving medals. The Prime Minister will present medals to the BGB officers and members for their heroic and meritorious contribution to the BGB and receive the darbar of the BGB members.
On the occasion of the day, the BGB regimental flag will be hoisted at the BGB headquarters in Pilkhana of the capital. BGB Director General Major General Sakil Ahmed will pay tribute to the martyrs of the liberation war in border glory. Besides, as a part of mutual cordial relationship and increase of trust existing between Bangladesh and Indian Border Guard Forces, a grand ‘Joint Retreat Ceremony’ will be held by BGB-BSF at the ICP adjacent to the land port of Benapole in Jessore, Banglabandha in Panchagarh and Brahmanbaria on the afternoon of December 20.
Also, as part of the BGB Day celebrations, a special darbar of the BGB Director General will be held on the morning of December 21 at the border conference center in Pilkhana. At the end of the Durbar, medals and insignia will be presented to BGB officers and members in recognition of their meritorious contribution to BGB by the Director General. Awards for meritorious work in operational activities, anti-smuggling and seizure of narcotics and promoted from Honorary Subedar Major to Honorary Assistant Director and Honorary Assistant Director to Honorary Deputy Director will wear the rank badge.
60 people are getting medals
60 people will get medals in four categories on the occasion of BGB Day. Among them, 10 people including BGB DG are getting Border Guard Bangladesh Medal, 20 are getting Presidential Border Guard Medal, 10 are getting Border Guard Bangladesh Medal of Service and 20 people are getting Presidential Border Guard Medal of Service including BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam. Among the medal recipients are Bri. General AMM Khairul Kabir and Nazm-us Saqib, Colonel Mohammad Azizur Rauf and Md. Mehdi Hossain Kabir, Lieut. Colonel Muhammad Ishaq, Mohammad Suruj Mia and Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, Habildar Md. Jahangir Alam, Naik Md. Anwarul Haque and others.
