Dhaka Bureau: Five parliamentarians of BNP have submitted their resignation letter to Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. They went to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury’s office at Sangsad Bhavan at 11:20 on Sunday (December 11).
Chapainawabganj-2 Constituency Md submitted his resignation letter to the Speaker. Aminul Islam, Bogra-4 Constituency Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Golam Mohammad Siraj of Bogra-6 constituency, Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3 constituency and Member of Parliament Rumin Farhana of reserved women’s constituency.
After submitting their resignations, the MPs left the parliament building and spoke to reporters. However, Chapainawabganj-3 Constituency Member of Parliament Harun Or Rashid and Brahmanbaria-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Abdus Sattar were not physically present as they were abroad.
Coming to submit the resignation letter, Rumin Farhana said that this resignation is part of the movement of BNP. The present parliament does not represent the people. Government alone passes all laws. This parliament is ineffective.
Earlier, all the MPs of the party simultaneously announced their resignations from the divisional mass meeting of BNP in Dhaka. Member of Parliament of Chapainawabganj-3 Constituency. Haroon Or Rashid was not present as he was in Australia. After being informed by the party’s media wing, he will personally go to the National Parliament and submit his resignation letter to the Speaker on Sunday.
