Sukanth Bikash Dhar, Satkania: A student named Habibur Rahman Bablu (10) who was studying in Hefzkhana in Satkaniya was mercilessly flogged by Maulana Ahmad Shafi (40), a teacher of the same madrasa. This incident took place in a madrasa called Chadaha Aisha Islamia Trust Orphanage and Hefzkhana, ward no. Bablu is the son of Abdur Rashid, a Saudi Arabian expatriate from the same area.
Today (Saturday) morning, the student was sent to Chamek Hospital from Satkania Upazila Health Complex for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, the student’s mother has filed a case in the police station today (Saturday) evening.
In this regard, the student’s mother Hashina Akhtar said, I gave my son to Ayesha Trust for custody one month and 28 days ago. Earlier, the boy studied in primary school up to class IV. A few days before the incident, Huzur Ahmad Shafi demanded two lakhs from me for the gate of the madrasa. Then I said, son’s father lives abroad. I recently married one of my daughters. I will help the Madrasah as much as I can when my son’s Hefz is over. He also said that the madrasa is located in my neighbourhood. Every week on Thursday the boy comes home for vacation.
Last Thursday (December 8) when I called Huzoor as he did not come home, he told me that my son could not finish his studies. So he won’t go home this week. Later on Thursday afternoon, after climbing the wall of the madrasa, he came home and found that he had been mercilessly beaten with a cane all over his body. Basically Huzur beat the son because he did not pay the two lakhs demanded by Huzur. The doctor asked to take the boy who was being treated at Satkania Hospital to Chittagong Medical College Hospital today (Saturday) for better treatment. In this incident, I filed a case against Huzur at the police station.
Maulana Ahmad Shafi, the accused teacher and director of Chadaha Ayesha Islamia Trust Orphanage and Shelter, admitted the beating and said that the boy was inattentive and evading in reading and writing. So the rule is a bit more. In this regard, I sat in the madrasa office along with some UP members and resolved the issue and apologized to the boy’s mother after admitting the mistake. However, the people of the neighborhood came and beat me. Regarding asking for money, he said that the trust has provided free food and accommodation to all the students. There is no question of asking for money here.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station Tarek Mohammad Abdul Hannan said that the incident of beating the student by the teacher is very cruel. The police were sent after hearing about the incident. In this incident, the student’s mother Hashina Akhtar filed a case at the police station this evening accusing two people named Maulana Ahmad Shafi and Md. Lokman as the plaintiff. Operations are on to arrest the accused.
