Charamba Union Awami League office burnt down in Lohagara

Nurul Islam, Lohagara Correspondent: The Charamba Union Awami League office in Lohagara, South Chittagong was burnt down by a fire set by Dribritta. This incident happened last December 7 at 2:30 in the morning. The office has been extensively damaged in this fire.

Awami League office on the 1st floor of Nayabazar Jamal Building of Charamba Union has been damaged by fire, locals said.

Charamba Union Awami League President, former Chairman Master Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Ashab Uddin said that miscreants burnt the furniture of the office including the pictures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 30 chairs were taken away by the spectators. Seeing the smoke of the fire, the local people tried hard to bring the fire under control. Otherwise the entire Jamala building would have burned. Locals said that the two men entered the office by breaking the lock and destroyed the furniture. At this stage the fire started.

In this regard, Lohagara Upazila Awami League President Khorshed Alam Chowdhury and General Secretary Salah Uddin Hiru strongly condemned the incident and said that because of the threat that BNP is making on December 10, the Mbachar Union office was set on fire. Upazila Awami League leaders said that they have drawn the attention of the concerned authorities for proper action against the criminals.

Officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station inspected the spot after receiving the news. He said, subject to investigation, the culprits will be found and brought under the law.
In this regard, the leaders said that the process of filing the case is going on at Lohagara police station.
