The Crime Desk: Police have arrested five robbers while fleeing a robbery that took place late at night in Tentulia, Panchagarh. Their arrest was possible due to the quick action of the locals and the police operation.
A group of robbers attacked Aziznagar village in Tentulia Sadar Union at around 1 am on Saturday (March 2). They climbed the wall and entered the house of school teacher Belayet Hossain, breaking the door and carrying out an ambush. The robbers tied the hands and feet of the householder and family members, broke the lock of the cupboard, and looted cash and gold ornaments.
The accused were arrested from Bhajanpur Bazar on the Tentulia-Panchagarh highway in the early hours of Sunday (March 3). The arrested are Anwar Hossain (41), a resident of Haripur village under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur. Tahidul Islam (40), a resident of Mirzapur village under Nawabganj police station in Dinajpur. Shariful Islam (35), a resident of Laldighi Fatehpur Makimpur village under Pirganj police station in Rangpur. Hasanur (40), a resident of Fakirpara village. Aynal (38), a resident of Shahpur village, who fled from Saner Hat.
In addition, the police said that another suspect has been arrested.
Panchagarh Additional Superintendent of Police S. M. Shafiqul Islam said that the police reached the spot immediately after the incident and started an investigation. Five members of the robbers were arrested in a joint force operation, and legal action is being taken against them.
He said that a case is being filed against the robbers in this incident, and the police are continuing the investigation.
