The Crime Desk: The National Poetry Festival starts today. It will continue till tomorrow (Sunday). This year’s poetry festival is going to be held under the theme of “Poetry for Freedom, Equality, and Harmony.”.
The festival will be inaugurated by Monowara Begum, mother of Abu Sayeed, martyred in the July Uprising, at the Central Library premises of Dhaka University.
On the two days of the National Poetry Festival, there will be poetry readings by registered poets, poetry readings by invited poets, recitations by renowned reciters of the country, poetry songs, dances, and seminars.
At a press conference last Thursday, poet Mohan Raihan, convener of the National Poetry Council, said, “Just as we liberated the country with blood in 1971, our next generation has freed the country from fascism by being inspired by the same spirit.”
We now have to remain united against the defeated forces of 1971 and 1924.
