The Crime Desk: The post of Deputy Commissioner (DC) is being changed in 26 districts of the country. The work experience conditions for the posts of UNO and ADC are being relaxed in the preparation of a new fit list by March. The Ministry of Public Administration says that this decision has been taken so that the deprived can get appointments.
After the fall of the Hasina government in the mass uprising of students and the public on August 5, changes were made to the post of DC in 64 districts. But there are allegations that many beneficiaries of the Awami League government are getting places there. In this situation, the fit list for the appointment of new DCs is being prepared.
Babul Miah, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, said that currently 26 people from 24 batches, 26 from 25 batches, and 12 from 27 batches are working as deputy commissioners. The fit list for the promotion of officers from 24 batches to the post of Joint Secretary is being prepared.
As a result, the Ministry of Public Administration has planned to remove everyone from this batch by March. The fitlisting of the 25th, 27th, and 28th batch officers is being done for appointment as DCs in these districts.
The officers of the administration cadre can become DCs even if they are not working as Upazila Executive Officers and Additional District Commissioners. However, they must have experience in any level of field administration.
In this regard, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, a professor of the Department of Public Administration at Dhaka University, says that qualified and honest officers should be selected and appointed as DCs.
The Ministry of Public Administration has said that there will also be reshuffles in the posts of UNO and DC.
