The Crime Desk: New good news has come as part of the government’s sincere initiative to end the long-standing harassment of expatriates regarding their passports. From now on, expatriates will receive information directly through SMS when their passports are ready. They will no longer have to crowd the embassy to collect their passports.

Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, gave this information at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Tuesday (January 7).

He said that from now on, expatriates will receive information directly through SMS when their passports are ready. They will no longer have to crowd the embassy to collect their passports.

He also said that the interim government has been working since the beginning to solve the passport problem of expatriates. This initiative will play an important role in reducing the harassment and suffering of expatriates.

The Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Advisor said that 197,000 MRP (Machine Readable Passport) applications of expatriates from different countries were pending. Already, 182,745 passports have been printed in the last three weeks, which will be sent to the concerned embassies very soon. It is expected that everyone will receive their passports within the next month. Along with this, the government has also taken the initiative to provide e-passports to expatriates.
