Khagrachari Correspondent: Traffic stopped due to the collapse of Bailey Bridge in Khagrachari. This incident took place at around 8:45 am on Tuesday in the Chaumuhani area of the Dighinala-Longdu Road in Khagrachari. The collapse of the Bailey Bridge occurred due to an overloaded truck loaded with wood.
Local residents and eyewitnesses Nazmul Hasan and Belal Hossain said that the overloaded truck loaded with wood on the Bailey Bridge over the Boalkhali Chhara fell onto the risky Bailey Bridge and collapsed. Although there were no casualties at that time, vehicles were not moving. In addition, all types of vehicles, including motorcycles, were stopped due to the narrowness of the road.
Executive Engineer of Khagrachari Road Department Maksudur Rahman said that the collapse of the Bailey Bridge is not known. However, we are taking measures to normalize traffic on the road.
Dighinala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zakaria said that work has begun to unload the timber from the timber-laden truck to quickly normalize traffic. After that, the truck will be lifted from the embankment. Small vehicles are plying on alternative routes, but heavy vehicles are closed. It will take time to normalize traffic on the Bailey Bridge.
