Bogra Correspondent: A traveling court has seized 1,130 sacks (33,900 kg) of rice under the government’s food-friendly program from the warehouse of a Jubo League leader named Shahadat Hossain in Sariakandi, Bogra.
On Wednesday (November 30) around 7:30 pm, rice was seized from a warehouse under a three-storey house in Kalitala area of the upazila.
According to the mobile court, Shahadat Hossain deals in rice in Sariakandi. Apart from this, he is a member of Upazila Jubo League. Shahadat kept the government’s food-friendly program rice stocked in a rice warehouse on the ground floor of his residence. The district administration conducted the mobile court after receiving the news.
1,130 sacks of rice of 30 kg each were seized from the warehouse in the raid. Shaheen Alam, brother of Shahadat Hossain, was present in the warehouse. He was fined 50 thousand rupees. At the same time, the rice warehouse has been sealed.
District Administration Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Jannatul Naeem said that the operation was conducted there based on the specific information of the National Intelligence Agency (NSI). Upazila Food Control Officer Md. Atiqur Rahman and members of law enforcement were present.
