Chandanaish Correspondent: Chandanaish Police Station has recovered a domestically made pipe gun from a passenger after conducting a search in a passenger bus based on a tip-off. The weapon was recovered from the BGC Trust area of Chandanaish on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar National Highway on Friday (December 20) night.
Police said that after receiving a tip-off about arms smuggling from a secret source, the police team set up a check post in the Chandanaish BGC Trust area of the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar National Highway on Friday night. At that time, a search was conducted on the Pabna-bound “Pabna Express” bus that left Cox’s Bazar.
At that time, a domestically made pipe gun (15 inches long with a wooden butt) in the custody of two passengers named Mohammad Badsha Mia (25) and Abdul Aziz Munna (22) sitting in the back seat of the bus was recovered. The arrested Badsha Mia is Sona Ali of the Paschim Paglir Bil area of Ukhia upazila of the Cox’s Bazar district, and Abdul Aziz is the son of Abul Kalam of the same area.
The process of filing a case under the Arms Act in this regard and sending the accused to court was underway, said Imran Al Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandanaish police station.
