CU Reporter: Chittagong University has been ranked in the 301-350th university slot in the world for quality collaborative research in the interdisciplinary science ranking published by the world-renowned Times Higher Education Rankings 2025. Chittagong University has also secured the second place among the universities in Bangladesh.
It was published on the website of Times Higher Education Rankings 2025 last Thursday night. 750 universities in the world have been included in this ranking list this time. Seven universities in Bangladesh are among them. It is known that Chittagong University has achieved the highest points in collaborative research on health, medicine, biology, oceanography, environment, and biotechnology; international joint publications; and the scope of work with various industries and private organizations. Seven universities in Bangladesh have now been placed in this global ranking.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and the National University of Singapore have been selected as the top three universities in the world in this year’s global ranking. The ranking is prepared based on the number of research papers published by the universities, their quality, how many joint research institutions have been conducted with domestic and foreign institutions, ongoing projects, how various researches have been covered in the media, the university’s investment in local and joint scientific research, and the percentage of teachers who have published research papers in the last year.
According to CU sources, Chittagong University has already been ranked in four international rankings.
Although Interdisciplinary Science was ranked in the 301-350th slot, in the overall ranking including other subjects, Chittagong University was ranked in the 1201-1500th university slot, the third slot in Bangladesh; Chittagong University has been ranked in the 1001-1500th university slot in the world, fifth in Bangladesh, and 641st in Asia in the QS Asian University Rankings for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Times Impact Rankings.
