The Crime Desk: The police have arrested Badruddoja alias Badruj, the leader of the dangerous kidnapping ring in Teknaf. He was arrested early on Friday (November 17) in the North Sheelkhali area of Baharchhara Union. During this time, a large amount of weapons were recovered.
Police said one gun, two one-shooter guns, three fresh cartridges, two kirichs, a ram da, and a Chinese ax were recovered from Badruj.
Badruz had been running an organized robbery and kidnapping ring in Baharchhara and Waikong areas for a long time. Recently, under his leadership, 11 farmers from Hoikang and Dr. Baharchhara. Zaheer was kidnapped. Although they were released after paying the ransom, the incident spread panic among the public.
Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin said Badruz is very cunning. It took time to catch him as he changed places frequently.
During the interrogation, Badruz admitted that weapons for use in kidnapping were kept under the wood pile of Dakat Jalil’s house. From there, they took out weapons and carried out kidnapping activities with the members of the group.
After the arrest, the police recovered a large number of weapons from that wooden pile in Baharchhara.
Badruj has seven robbery and weapons cases against him. A new weapons case has also been filed against him.
Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin, who led the operation, said, “This activity of the police will continue to suppress crime. We are determined to restore peace to the area with the cooperation of the people.”
