City Reporter: During the operation of the mobile court of the district administration in the city, private land worth five and a half crores was recovered. Illegal squatters were evicted from the 5.50-century government land at Uttar Pahartali Mauza at AK Khan Junction in the city on Sunday (November 10). Kattali Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Arafat Siddiqui led the eviction drive. The police members of Akbarshah police station were with him.

Executive Magistrate Arafat Siddiqui said that earlier last Friday, late at night, miscreants took possession of this valuable property of the metropolis by surrounding it with tin in the dark of night. Apart from this, there are also reports of some fruit and tea shops being set up illegally on the land and paying rent.

After getting to know about the secret information, on the order of the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong, an operation was started from Sunday morning to evict illegal structures. At the end of the operation, all the illegally occupied structures were removed, and the government’s occupation was brought under control by placing signboards on the five and a half centuries of land under BS 1 No.

The market value of the recovered property is approximately five and a half million taka. District Administration, Chittagong, will continue this kind of campaign against illegal occupation of government land in the public interest.
