The Crime Desk: Claiming that the law and order situation in the country is much better than before, Home Affairs Advisor Retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that no matter who the criminal is, no matter which party, he will not be exempted under any circumstances. No matter how influential he is, no concessions will be made.

He said this in a briefing after a meeting with various organizations on law and order in Dhaka at the meeting room of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (November 6).

In today’s meeting, how to improve law and order in Dhaka was discussed. The advisor said the law and order situation in the country is much better than before. But we are trying to improve it further. Hopefully, the situation will improve day by day. No one will be allowed to commit the crime of extortion.

When asked about the decision of the meeting, the advisor said, “Earlier, you used to say that Mohammadpur was a troubled area at one time; now Mohammadpur is coming to a fairly tolerable level.” Other areas will work on this model.

He said there is a big problem of traffic. The rickshaws come down the main road. If removed, it comes again, and we will tell the Ministry of Electricity that their batteries do not charge. Besides, there are shops on the streets. They can be removed from here for the time being. I’m talking about streets, not sidewalks. You also have to cooperate; if one shop is removed, another shop comes again after a while.

The Home Affairs adviser said that it will take time to recognize the policemen who came from outside Dhaka. Give them some time. The representatives of various organizations, including the army and police, participated in the meeting.

On the day of the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, attacks were carried out on various police establishments, including the police station. They were looted and set on fire. The law and order situation collapsed. Increases robbery, extortion, and conflict.
Traffic police started working on the roads of Dhaka on a small scale on August 10 after the change of political pot. In the beginning, few members were present for a month, but no one was seen to take a strong position. Proceedings of the case began later.

After that, many senior officers were sacked as part of the reform initiative to overhaul the police system. In particular, initiatives were taken to transfer constable members from the top posts of Dhaka. The policemen transferred to Dhaka also have to get some speed to understand the situation.
