The local residents said that the entire area was suddenly filled with smoke in the middle of the night. Eyes are burning inside the house due to smoke. Many people say that it is difficult to breathe when they go to the balcony or roof of the house.
In this regard, many people in Mohammadpur have posted about the issue on social media Facebook. In addition, many local people in different groups said that there is a smell of gunpowder along with the smoke.
Sifat Mahmud wrote on Facebook, ‘From Katasur to Bashbari, Noor Jahan Road, Chanmia Housing, Japan Garden City, Taj Mahal Road, Shekhertek is filled with smoke. A kind of foul smell prevailed. Eyes burning. I could not find the source even after visiting the whole area.
Meanwhile, Istiaq Hossain said that the smell of gunpowder is not only found in Mohammadpur and Dhanmondi but also in Old Dhaka. He wrote, “This has happened before, but never this intense.”
However, in the comment room of these posts, some netizens are talking about Aminbazar Landfill. They say that such smoke has spread due to the burning of waste accumulated there.
But why and what caused the smoke could not be confirmed.
On the other hand, the police and fire service members immediately started the operation after receiving the information about the incident, but they did not find any Kulkina. Titus Gas Authority also said that they have no information about gas leakage.
