The Crime Desk: The government has canceled all activities related to Commercially Important Persons (CIP) cards issued in 2023.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) issued a circular in this regard on Monday. It was signed by Md Shahjalal, Director (Products) of EPIB.
In the circular, it is said that the memorandum No. 26.00.0000.103.48.008.23-206 issued by the Ministry of Commerce on the above matter on October 1; in view of this, it is kindly informed that all activities related to the issuance of the CIP (Export and Trade)-2023 card have been canceled by the government.
The government awards CIP status to traders every year in recognition of their contribution to the country’s export and trade activities.
Benefits CIPs will get:
CIPs will get a pass and vehicle sticker to enter the Secretariat. Besides, you will get invitations to national events and civic receptions, priority seat reservations in government vehicles by air, rail, road, and water while traveling for business purposes, and use of VIP lounges at the airport. Besides, CIPs will get special facilities for treatment of their wives, children, and themselves in government hospitals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue a ‘Letter of Introduction’ for them in the case of traveling abroad.
The identity card issued as CIP must be returned to the Ministry of Industry within seven days of expiry. The government may withdraw the privileges granted to any person as CIP at any time during the term in the public interest by issuing a Gazette Notification.
