Recently, after the kidnapping of several farmers from the Kanchannagar hilly area of the upazila, there is a lot of fear among the villagers living at the foot of the hill, farmers, and those involved in guava and lemon cultivation. In the early morning of September 30, hill terrorists kidnapped 14 people while they were going to a garden to pick guavas in the Kanchannagar area. Later, in the face of resistance from the villagers, the terrorists fled, leaving the abductees behind.

Later, the relatives of the abductees were informed over the phone to take them with a ransom of Tk 50,000 to 60,000 per person. If the ransom is not paid, everyone will be killed one by one and buried in the barren mountains.
Later, some relatives of the abductees borrowed 20,000 taka, but the terrorists did not agree to release anyone less than 50,000 taka. Later, they returned from there and told the matter to the villagers. Later, 150 to 200 villagers came together to resist the terrorists. On receiving the news of the gathering, the terrorists escaped, leaving the 14 abducted in a bind. Meanwhile, the villagers brought the abductees. Member Abdul Alim said that guava and lemon growers are scared by the way mountain terrorists are carrying out kidnappings day by day. Guava farmers are now afraid to go to the garden to pick guava due to the fear of kidnapping. Local guava farmer. Many people, including Nasir Uddin, Noor Uddin, and Kamal Hossain, said that most of the gardens of Kanchan Guava, which have gained fame across the country, are in Kanchannagar and Kharna hilly areas.
Farmers collect hundreds of putli guavas from these orchards every day. Also, lemons are grown in large quantities in the hills of this region. The money from the sale of guavas and lemons in this region plays a major role in the economy of Chandnaish. Every season, at least hundreds of crores of guavas and lemons are sold from the orchards of this region. Farmers do not dare to go to the garden for fear of kidnapping, as the mountain terrorists are rampant. In this situation, the guava and lemon growers demanded to conduct a joint operation to prevent the mountain terrorists.
