Own Correspondent: Abir (19), who was arrested in connection with the murder of 5-year-old child Alina Islam Ayat in 6 pieces in EPZ police station area of Chittagong city, has been remanded for 7 days by the court.
On Monday (November 28), Chittagong Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abdul Halim granted the remand application after the hearing. Earlier, PBI, the investigating agency of the case, applied to the court for a 10-day remand of accused Abir. PBI Chittagong Metro Region Inspector Morjina Akhtar confirmed the matter.
According to court sources, on November 15, Ayat went missing while going to study Arabic at Basa Masjid in Nayarhat Vidyut Office area of Chittagong’s Bandartila. The next day, Sohel Rana, the child’s father, filed a missing diary at the EPZ police station. After that, the PBI started investigating the incident. Last Thursday night, PBI was able to arrest Abir, the killer of Shishu Ayat, and recover various signs of murder. During initial interrogation, Abir admitted that after kidnapping and killing Ayat, he cut the body into 6 pieces and dumped it in different places and rivers.
