The Crime Desk: Former MP Abdur Rahman Badi, imprisoned in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, has been transferred to Chittagong Central Jail for security reasons. He was brought to Chittagong from Cox’s Bazar under heavy police guards on Friday (September 7) night. Chittagong Central Jail Deputy District Sumaiya Khatun confirmed the transfer of Badi to Chittagong Jail.  He said that the ACC has a case in the Chittagong court in Badi’s name.

Last August 21, Badik was sent to jail by Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Hamimun Tamjid’s court. Earlier in the day, he was arrested from the GEC Mor area of Chittagong City.

Earlier, on August 18, Abdullah filed a case against 20 people, including Badi and Upazila Chairman Zafar Ahmad, accusing the top leader of the Upazila BNP of trying to kill Mohammad Abdullah in the KKpara area of Teknaf Municipality. RAB-7 arrested him in that case. At least 26 members of the family, including Badi and his four brothers, have been named in the Home Ministry’s list of drug smugglers.
