The Crime Desk: Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. has directed the officials of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) to conduct tender activities transparently by stopping manipulation and irregularities. M Sakhawat Hossain. At the same time, he urged people to work to increase the quality of service and income.

He said these things while visiting BIWTC’s head office, Fairley House, on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. This morning he met the students of the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NIT) at the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

Addressing the BIWTC officials, he said, at least during this government, be careful. Do not attempt to syndicate. Don’t try to associate me with irregularities. If anyone tries, I will end his career. Ordering to bring transparency in the tender process, he said, don’t put any condition in the tender that will block the way of open competition.

He said BIWTC should increase the income. If there is no income for this organization, the salary of the officers and employees of the corporation will not be paid. At least 75 percent of every ministry is flatter. Promotion does not come with skill. As we know, those working in civil service do not have to be partisans. But now I see that flattery is going on in all sectors. In this period of the current government, at least reduce the expenditure and increase the income. I doubt every one of your estimates. I know there are many problems here. I still travel on the launch. I know the problem of waterways. Adviser directed to resolve BIWTC’s shipping problems.

The advisor also said I heard complaints of collecting more or less money at the ghat. I will go to the ghat anytime and talk to people. When I’m not on duty, I have to go to the market with the bag. I have to live with common people. I will work for common people.

In the meeting, the advisor discussed the brutal killing of people in the movement of students. He said, remembering the way students were killed in the movement, I still cannot sleep. We must remember the freedom they brought with their lives.

Sakhawat said a video has come out recently. In that video, it is seen how people are being killed and bodies are being thrown on top of each other. How much cruelty can be imagined? The government that has done these things is not worth telling how much corruption they have done. There has been corruption from the bottom to the top of the government. Those who were honest during that government were not well placed. The system is supposed to be broken in a country where the prime minister laughs and says that his prime minister owns 400 crore rupees and travels in a helicopter.

Students meet advisers: Earlier, a delegation of students from the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NIT) met advisers at the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. They put forward several demands aimed at creating an exploitation-free education environment. The demands include normalization of all campus activities, prosecution of those who attacked students, construction of new buildings, and nationalization of the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER).

Advisor Dr. Sakhawat Hossain listened to their statements and promised to fulfill the logical demands with the concerned parties. At that time, BTMC Chairman Brigadier General Ziaul Haque and Additional Secretary Subrata Shikder were present.
