Banskhali Correspondent: Two security personnel were stabbed to death while preventing theft at SS Power Plant, a coal-based power plant in Gandamara, Banskhali. The deceased are retired army warrant officers Sarwar Alam (51) and Rashed Jawardar (22).
Sarwar Alam is the son of Abdur Rahman of Talma village of Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur district, and Rashed Jawardar is the son of Abdur Razzak of Jawardar village of Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district.
According to police sources, two youths came to steal the power plant on Monday (September 2) around 4 a.m. When the security personnel tried to arrest them, they stabbed them and fled.
When two security personnel were taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries, the doctor on duty declared them dead.
Banskhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tofail Ahmed said that the deceased Sarwar Alam was in charge of security at the coal power station. Additional police have been deployed at the scene, and legal action is under process.
