The Crime Desk: As the flood water recedes in Feni, damage to regional roads and rural roads is visible. About 500 km of rural roads in the district have been damaged due to continuous one-week floods. The amount of financial loss is more than 50 crore rupees. Out of this, 342 roads and 40 bridge culverts have been damaged.

The situation is gradually normalizing in flood-affected low-lying areas and riverside areas. In some parts of Daganbhuna and Sonagazi upazilas of the district, there is still water in the localities, but the flood water has receded in most of the other upazilas. After the flood, the rural roads of most of the upazilas have become impassable.

It can be seen on the ground that most of the rural roads in Feni Sadar, Fulgazi, Chagalnaia, and Daganbhuanya upazilas, including Feni Sadar, Phulgazi, Chagalnaia, and Daganbhuanya upazilas, have become impassable due to the flood. . This has increased the movement of the residents of the flood-affected areas.

Omar Farooq, a resident of Parashuram’s Banspadua area, said that our road has completely broken down due to the flood. All the bricks and sand of the road have been washed away by the flood water, and now the ground is visible. As the road is impassable, no organization is able to come here with relief aid.

Al Imran, a resident of Sonagazi’s Nawabpur area, said that almost all the rural roads in our union have been damaged so much that they are completely impassable now. There is no situation where people go from shelter to home.

Another resident named Saheed Sabbir said that the flood water has not receded from various areas of Sonagazi yet. Due to this, the damage to the roads has not been observed yet. However, it is assumed that most of the roads will be in poor condition due to this flood.

Fulu Rani Banik, a resident of Kazirbagh Union of Feni Sadar Upazila, said that our houses and roads have all been destroyed by the flood water. It is not possible to move on the broken road.

According to LGED sources, about 3 thousand roads in the district were submerged under water in this flood. Due to the flow of water, erosion and big potholes have been created on most of the roads. Around 500 kilometers of rural roads in the district have been damaged by the floods.

Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED) Feni executive engineer Mahmoud Al Farooq said that although the severity of floods hit everywhere, low-lying areas were the most affected. About 3 thousand roads under the jurisdiction of our local government engineering department were flooded. Out of this, about 500 km of roads have been broken at various places. There are also big potholes on the road. About 40 bridge culverts were damaged. We visited the affected areas after the flood waters receded. A preliminary damage assessment is underway. They will be renovated soon.

Vinay Kumar Pal, executive engineer of Feni Road and Township Department, said that due to the flood, potholes were created at various places on the highway and regional roads, but there was no major damage. We will assess the damage very soon.
