Cox’s Bazar representative: Initiatives have been taken to remove two chairmen of Ukhia Upazila No. 2 Ratnapalong and No. 4 Rajapalong Union Parishad. The upazila administration has sent a letter to the local government department in this regard.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Tanvir Hossain confirmed the matter. This letter is sent asking for substitutes of the concerned chairmen to continue the activities of the Union Parishad by showing the reason of absence.
According to sources, Rajapalong Union Parishad Chairman (Acting) Md. An administrator would be appointed to replace Saladin. On the other hand, Ratnapalong Union Parishad chairman Nurul Huda may be appointed instead of 1st panel chairman.

It is known that these two UP chairmen, who are the incumbents of the Awami League, have not sat in the Union Parishad office since the political change on August 5. As a result, thousands of service-seeking citizens of the two unions have been deprived of services for a long month.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Tanveer Hossain said that due to the absence of the chairmen, all the financial and administrative activities of the Union Parishad have stopped. Various activities, including public service of the Union Parishad, are being disrupted. Local people are deprived of access to civic services.
UNO said that a letter has been sent to the relevant higher authority to remove the difficulties arising in this situation and to keep the activities of the Union Parishad running.
It was not possible to establish contact with the two concerned UP chairmen for their response. It is said that they have covered their bodies in fear of arrest.
Incidentally, Nurul Huda was elected from Ratnapalong in the Union Parishad elections held in November 2021 under the previous Awami League government. On the other hand, former chairman Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury, who was also elected to participate in the Sixth Upazila Parishad election, resigned from the Rajapalong Union Parishad on April 28 this year. As a result, the 1st panel chairman, Md., was appointed as the acting chairman on the basis of preference for the vacant position. Saladin.
Upazila Awami League President Jahangir Kabir Chowdhury has already been removed from the Upazila Parishad. Currently, several cases have been filed against these Awami League leaders. In those cases, the accused are running away due to fear of arrest.
