The Crime Desk: Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s statement in India is not comforting for the interim government. The High Commissioner of that country has been told that he should not do this in India, said Foreign Affairs Advisor M. Tauhid Hossain.

He informed the reporters after the meeting with the representatives of the European Union, United States, United Kingdom, China, India, and Saudi Arabia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (August 14) afternoon.

Regarding informing the High Commissioner of that country that if Sheikh Hasina makes a statement while sitting in India, the foreign adviser said, “I have said that it will not help in the development of relations.” I told him that. Because this is the position of the government. He (the High Commissioner) has not said anything about it, nor can he say. It can be decided from the highest level; he can communicate it there.

He said the context of this discussion is that the statement of the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh is not comforting for this government. We want him not to do it in India.

In response to the question that we will see Sheikh Hasina’s statement as—he said, we are not saying it as a direct hostile act. But I tried to tell him that this is an obstacle to a friendly relationship. But I did not say anything about the son of the former prime minister.

A case has been filed in Sheikh Hasina’s name; whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will talk about her return or not, she said, if there is a case, if they (the law ministry) say that she should be brought back, we will bring it. Otherwise, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has nothing to do in this regard. It is the work of two ministries; one is Home and Law. We will act as they suggest.

When asked if he said anything about the role of media in India, he said, “I said that some incidents have happened here; we have taken notice of that.” The Chief Adviser is meeting the Hindu community and others. We want everyone to live happily and peacefully; the government will not tolerate any attack on anyone. The culprits will also be brought to justice. I also told him (High Commissioner) that Indian media is exaggerating it and creating a bad atmosphere; it is not right.

When asked if he said anything about the border, he said, “We said there are some problems.” This is an issue we can resolve if both sides want. When I was a free man, I wrote a lot, I believe. We can do it if we want.
