Lohagara Correspondent: Under the banner of the anti-discrimination student movement, the protestors gathered in Lohagara upazila on Saturday, August 3 at 3 pm at Tewari Hat on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.
Later, they came to Battali Motor Station with a protest march and stayed till night. At that time, upazila Awami League office located at Battali station of upazila Sadar, traffic police box was set on fire, office of Awami League executive member Mamunur Rashid, and all CCTV cameras of the station were vandalized.
After that, the Upazila Muktijoddha Complex building was set on fire. They burned the social service and population office there. Then, the Nice Hotel, owned by Mizanur Rahman, former convenor of the Upazila Chhatra League, opposite Lohagara police station, was vandalized. Then they tried to attack the police station. After failing, the protestors vandalized and set fire to 4 cars in front of the police station gate.
At that time, traffic on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway was closed due to a road blockade.
Meanwhile, a protest march was taken out on the initiative of the Upazila Awami League at 4 pm on Sunday, August 4. It circumnavigates Battali Motor Station.
