City Reporter: The students started protesting by blocking the road again in Chittagong with a one-point demand. Students of various educational institutions, including public and private universities, colleges, and madrasas, participated in the rally on the call of the anti-discrimination student movement. People from different professions have also joined. They started protesting at the New Market intersection under Kotwali police station in the city at 10:30 am on Sunday (August 4).
Various slogans were given from the rally. Around 11:30 am, the protesters clashed with the police. Police fired tear gas and tear gas to disperse them. Meanwhile, according to the instructions of the central Awami League, the metropolitan Awami League will hold a mass gathering at New Market Square at 1 pm.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam told the media that barricades will be placed between the two sides. So that no unpleasant situation is created. Two thousand policemen have been deployed in the city. Police are also on the ground.
In the quota movement clashes between 18th and 21st July, 150 people lost their lives as per the government. After the clashes stopped, students were arrested in the continuous program; this time a demand for the downfall of the government was expressed.
