Own Correspondent: Three people were killed when a speeding bus rammed a pickup parked in Chittagong’s Mirsrai. Two more people were injured.
The accident took place in the Chinki Astana area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway early on Saturday (November 26). The deceased are pickup driver Abdur Rob Bepari’s son of Bhadrasan area of Shibchar police station in Madaripur district. Khorshed Alam (38), Baldiya area of Swarupkathi police station of Pirojpur district. Hasan (42), son of Mohammad Haider Ali of Bishar Kandi area of Banaripara police station of Barisal district. Sohail (38). Injured Arif (30). Mizanur Rahman Mizan (35). The injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CHMEC).
According to the investigation, a fast-moving Ena Paribahan bus (No. Dhaka Metro B 14-9361) rammed a Dhaka-Chittagong-bound pickup (No. Dhaka Metro No. 19-4451) parked on the side of the road at Chinki Astana area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Saturday morning, and the pickup driver and the pickup were killed. The occupants were seriously injured. After rescuing the injured and taking them to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, the doctor in charge declared Khorshed Alam and Mohammad Hasan dead. Three others were sent to Chittagong Medical. Another person named Sohail died while undergoing treatment there.
Zahirul Islam, a relative of the deceased Sohail, said that they were going to repair a ship in Chittagong by pickup from Dhaka. On the way, the driver was urinating on the side of the road in the Chinki Astana area of Mirsarai. When a bus hit from behind, 3 out of 5 people died. The physical condition of the injured two is not good. I sent from Dhaka to fetch the dead bodies.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj Highway Police Station Mohammad Alamgir said that an Ena Paribahan bus rammed a pickup parked in the Chinki Astana area of the highway on Saturday morning, injuring the pickup driver and 4 people in the pickup. When the injured were rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, two died. I heard that another one of the injured died of shock. The bodies of the two, the bus and the pickup involved in the accident are in police custody.
