Dhaka Bureau: A court in Dhaka has extended the deadline till August 4 for submitting the investigation report on the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Rooney. So far, the time has been extended 111 times to submit the investigation report in this case.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubul Haque gave this order. On May 16, the same court asked RAB to submit the investigation report by today.

On the night of February 11, 2012, journalist couple Machranga Television news editor Sagar Sarwar and ATN Bangla’s senior reporter Meherun Rooney were brutally murdered in their rented house in the capital’s West Rajabazar.
Their only son, Mahir Sarwar Megh (5), was at home at the time. Rooney’s brother, Nowsher Ali Roman, filed a case at the Sherebangla police station.
After filing the case, the Sherbangla Nagar police station was assigned the responsibility of the investigation. After three days, the case was handed over to the detective police. After their failure, the case was handed over to RAB on April 18, 2012.
Two of the eight people arrested in the case have been granted bail. The rest are in jail.
