Brahmanbaria Correspondent: A Chhatra League worker named Ayash Rahman Ijaz (23) was killed in Brahmanbaria during the victory procession of the chairman candidate. The incident took place in the Collegepara area of the city on Wednesday evening. The deceased, Ayash Rahman Ijaz, is the son of Amin Mia of that area. He was an honors 2nd year student of the Brahmanbaria Government College Department of Botany.
The police and locals said that yesterday evening, when General Secretary of the District Chhatra League Shahadat Hossain Shobhan was elected Sadar Upazila Chairman, his workers took out a victory procession. District Chhatra League vice president Hasan Al Farabi Joy was standing there when the procession went to the Government College Hostel area. Suddenly, Hassan al-Farabi shot at the victory procession. When Ayash Rahman Ijaz was seriously injured in the firing, he was first taken to the District Headquarters Hospital. When the condition worsened there, he was taken to Brahmanbaria Medical College Hospital. He died there.
Aslam Hossain, OC of Brahmanbaria Model Police Station, said that the deceased Ijaz and Farabi Joy were both members of the winning chairman candidate. They had a prior conflict. However, it is not known what the dispute was about. Operations to arrest and recover the firearms used by the accused are continuing.
