Dhaka Bureau: The first budget session of the 12th National Parliament is starting on Wednesday (June 5). Before this meeting, which started at five o’clock in the afternoon, there would be a meeting of the working advisory committee. The duration of the current session will be determined there. It is known that the current session will end next Sunday (July 9).
Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali will present the proposed budget for the financial year 2024–25 in the National Assembly on Thursday (June 6).
Budget sessions are usually long. The budget is expected to be passed on June 30. Sources said that the supplementary budget will be passed on June 10.
Generally, when a member of the current parliament dies, the session is adjourned according to custom by accepting a condolence proposal in the first meeting of the session after the death. Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Annar was’murdered’ in Kolkata recently. However, as his death has not been officially confirmed, it is said that no condolence proposal is being taken for him in the meeting on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s question-and-answer session is on the first day, as per the day’s agenda of Parliament. Apart from this, there will be questions and answers from four other ministries.
