Dhaka Bureau: Tanveer Bhuiya, the accused in the case of abduction with intent to kill Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim, has given a confessional statement in court. The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain recorded his statement on Tuesday. The accused, Shilasti Rahman, gave a confessional statement in the same case on June 3.
According to court sources, Tanveer Bhuiyan agreed to give a voluntary confessional statement during the remand today. In that context, the investigation officer, DB Police Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahfuzur Rahman, applied for Tanveer’s statement record. Later, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain recorded his statement.
In this case, Shimul Bhuiya, alias Shihab, alias Fazal Mohammad Bhuiya, alias Amanullah Saeed, Tanveer Bhuiya, and Silista Rahman were remanded for five days in the second phase after eight days of remand.
Earlier on May 22, MP Anar’s daughter, Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen, filed a case of abduction with the intent to kill at the Sherbangla Nagar police station in the capital.
In the complaint, Doreen mentioned that we live as a family in the Manik Mia Avenue house. On May 9, around 8 p.m., my father, Anwarul Azim, left for Anna’s village house, Jhenaidah. On May 11, around 5:30 p.m., when I spoke to my father on a video call, my father’s speech seemed a bit incoherent. After that, I called my father’s mobile number several times, but it was disconnected.
On May 13, a small message arrived on Wazir’s uncle’s WhatsApp from his father’s Indian number. It was written, I am going to Delhi suddenly; I have VIPs with me. I am going to Newtown for Amit Saha’s work. I don’t need to call. I will call later. A few other messages also come. The text messages could have been made by the kidnappers using my father’s mobile phone.
He also mentions that I kept looking for my father in different places. Finding no trace, his friend Gopal Biswas filed a general diary at the Baranagar Police Station in India as a plaintiff. Yet we continue to search. Later, I came to know through various media and social media that unknown persons kidnapped the father in a pre-planned and coordinated manner.
